Nexus 5X Users Experiencing Boot Loop Issues Being Offered Full Refund by LG

Image
LG USA is reportedly offering full refunds to users experiencing boot loops on their Nexus 5X smartphones. While normally the process would be to repair, replace, or issue a refurbished unit, the company in this is offering a full refund as it doesn't have the parts (and presumably new units) to affect a repair. Notably, with the launch of the Pixel smartphones, Google is no longer selling the Nexus 5X . Reports of the refund policy come from Reddit users, and are seen on the dedicated Nexus 5X subreddit. Users that have given their devices to LG for repairs are now receiving an email that informs them a part required to fix the issue is longer available. They are then asked to produce a sales receipt so that the company can determine the exact amount that needs to be refunded. "We're sorry to hear that you've experienced a problem with your LGH790 and appreciate you giving us the opportunity to provide a warranty repair. We have received your device at our...

Friend Finder Data Breach Exposes 400M Swingers

Image
Hackers have stolen information of more than 400 million users of Friend Finder Networks, which runs several adult dating and pornography websites, LeakedSource reported earlier this week. This is Friend Finders' second breach in two years. Last year, hackers accessed 4 million accounts, exposing information on users' sexual preferences and extramarital affairs. Data of more than 412 million users was compromised in the latest breach, LeakedSource reported. Passwords taken in the breach were either in plain text or SHA1 hashed, and neither method could be considered secure. The hashed passwords appeared changed to all lowercase before storage, making them easier to attack, the LeakedSource team noted. However, it also makes them less easy to use in the real world. Whatever Hackers Want, Hackers Get Friend Finder reportedly has been aware of potential security vulnerabilities for several weeks and has been taking steps to investigate them. Several reports of flaw...

However, it accounts for a much smaller slice of the global market for cloud computing, defined as the storage of data on remote networks rather than local servers, which is expected to reach $135 billion by 2020, according to research firm Canalys. Image
Apple has been accused of limiting the LTE performance of iPhone 7 models powered by Qualcomm chipset to match speeds of the Intel-powered models. Recode in a separate report citing sources claims that Apple indeed limited some iPhone 7 models featuring Qualcomm chipset to match the speeds of Intel-powered chipsets. Apple has however refuted the claims of different download speeds. Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller commenting on the repo...
